Dr. P.V.Prakasa Rao, Professor (Health Education), Head, Dept. of Health & Vocational Education for the Disabled. M.D. in Community Medicine from AIIMS, New Delhi (1988) and M.Sc. in Health Education & Health Promotion from Leeds Metropolitan University, U.K. (1993). The job responsibilities include getting new health and para-medical courses designed; getting textbooks and practical manuals written for the courses; conscientising the various State Governments and NGOs to adopt/adapt the courses developed through organisation of orientation programmes/ seminars/ use of mass media; monitoring and evaluating the utilisation of funds received by these institutions, etc. During the last four year text books have been developed for three courses namely Sanitary Inspector's course, Hospital Housekeeper Course and Hospital Records keeper Course. Dr. Abhijit Nayak, Sr. Lecturer (Biochemistry)

 

Dr. Abhijit Nayak obtained his Masters (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry from University of Allahabad, Allahabad followed by his pre-doctoral training as research fellow of Council of Industrial and Scientific Research, Government of India. He completed his research studies (Ph.D) in Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (CSIR Lab, Calcutta) specializing in advanced immunomodulation with relevance to ENDOTOXEMIA (SEPTICEMIA). He underwent training with all practical skills in various fields related to bacterial lipopolysaccharides, tissue culture, various latest immunological techniques and other cell biology studies. He has varied research experience in the area of cell biology, microbiology, immunology, toxicology, latest instrumentation techniques. He has one U.S. patent to his credit and filled for Europe and Japan patent for an antagonist developed against Endotoxemia during his research tenure. He has patented and deposited one Gram-negative bacterial strain in American Type Collection Cell (ATCC, USA). He has participated in various conferences and seminars. He is presently working as Sr. Lecturer in Biochemistry in the Division of Health and Paramedical of PSSCIVE. His contributions in Health related Vocational Education are development of curricula on Opthalmic Assistant, Biomedical Instrument Maintenance, ECG and Andrometry, Medical Service Assistant, Opthalmic Assistant in low vision. He has also revised textbook on Physiology, Blood Bank Tech, Microbilogy. Besides that, he has conducted many programmes on training, orientaitoin for key functionaries of state government officials. He has successfully undertaken a training package of U.K. "Direct Training Skills". <Top>
