The objective of the Journal is to provide a forum to teachers, teacher educators, educational planners and administrators and research workers to contribute articles, research papers, book reviews and abstracts related to vocational education.

NOTES FOR CONTRIBUTORS

Articles submitted to the Indian Journal of Vocational Education should be original contributions and should not be under consideration for any other publication. Authors should warrant that the material included in the article is not an infringement of any existing copyright. The publisher of the Journal assumes no responsibility for the statements and opinions advanced by the authors.

Manuscript requirements

Manuscripts should be submitted in English or Hindi in double line spacing with 1 inch margins. The length of the research papers and articles should be between 3000 and 5000 words. Authors must also submit an Abstract of 150-200 words and should ensure that the article is grammatically correct and free from spelling or typographical errors. The first page of the manuscript should contain the title, name(s) and address(es) of author(s) and abstract followed by the article/paper. Also, the title of the article, author's name, full address, phone & fax numbers, E-mail address, number of pages of the article and date of submission should be mentioned on a separate sheet duly signed by the author(s).

Headings must be short and should be typed in capital and bold letters. Sub-headings should be typed in bold upper and lower case. Notes and endnotes should be used only if necessary. They must be numbered consecutively in the text, enclosed in square brackets and listed at the end of the article.

Tables should be numbered consecutively with capital roman numbers and must have a brief title. The position of the table should be indicated in the text by using pencil. Figures and charts should be kept minimum and numbered consecutively using arabic numbers with a brief title. These may also be submitted on tracing paper for quality printing. All illustrations should be good quality black and white half tones with captions. Their position should be indicated in the text with pencil. Only good quality photographs will be accepted for publication.

References to other publications should be given within brackets in the text. The author's surname should be followed by a comma and the year of publication in round brackets e.g., (Singhal, 1997). At the end of the article, a list of references in alphabetical order must be given as follows:

(a) Reference to research paper/article:
Surname, initials (year). title. journal in italics, volume, number, pages. For example:

Singh, H.S. and Gupta, O.P. (1997). Vocational Education and Training as a Tool and Catalyst to Empower Women. Indian Journal of Vocational Education, Vol.2, No.1, pp. 41-46.

(b) Reference to chapter in books:
Surname, initials (year). title of the chapter, number of pages. In : title of the book in italics (editors), publisher, place of publication. For example:

Tandon, H.P. (1997). A Model for Computer Networking in School Education System, pp.55-60. In : Recent Advances in Educational Information and Communication Technology (Eds. Saxena, H.S. and Verma, P.S.). Institute of Information Technology, New Delhi.

(c) Reference to books/reports:
Surname, initials (year). title in italics. publisher, place of publication. For example:

Saxena, R.C. (1996). Population Education. NCERT, New Delhi.


Submission of manuscripts

A hard copy of the final manuscript of the paper, accompanied by a 3.5" computer diskette (software such as Word Perfect, MS Word and Page Maker 6.5 version) should be submitted. Illustrations provided on computer diskette should be in tif, gif or pic file extensions. Diskette must be labelled mentioning the title of the paper and filename. The decision to publish the paper or not will vest with the Editorial Board. The paper approved by the Editorial Board may be sent to the author, if necessary, for incorporating changes as suggested. However, the Editorial Board shall have the right to incorporate minor changes including the format and presentation of the manuscript. A copy of the Journal will be made available to all contributors on complimentary basis.
